AI Agents Made Millions of x402 Payments on the XRP Ledger in 30 Days

XRPL's 30-day count and new batch-payment launches on Solana mark a week where agent-to-agent settlement grew on the rails, while the catalogs where agents find each other held steady.

AI Agents Made Millions of x402 Payments on the XRP Ledger in 30 Days

In 30 days, AI agents and online services processed millions of payments on the XRP Ledger through x402, the open standard that lets software agents pay for a service inside the same web request that asks for it, with no human clicking a checkout button. By October 1 the ledger had passed 10 million x402 payments in total, having reached its first million less than three months earlier, 24/7 Wall St. reported. A later cumulative tally put the running total above 13.4 million agentic payments through x402, CryptoRank reported.

The same week, more chains wired up the standard. Solana's official account said on October 7 that x402 batch payments, which bundle many small transactions into single on-chain settlements, are now live on its network, with PayAI Network as facilitator and BlockRun AI as the first production user, Our Crypto Talk reported; the scheme had launched as a public preview on September 30. BlockRunAI reported over $20,000 in monthly savings from the batch feature, KuCoin reported. The Cardano Foundation said ADA support was added to the official x402 software development kit, letting agents pay in ada through web requests, StreetInsider carried. On Algorand, USDC transfers over x402 reached $390,400 across 30 days, ahead of Base at $378,300 and Solana at $360,500, coinfomania reported via cryptonews.net.

Underneath the payment counts sits the discovery layer, the catalogs where one agent finds another agent's service to buy. A sweep of the agentic.market catalog converged this week at 3185 unique services, with a server total of 3069 across 12 passes. On the Coinbase CDP x402 Bazaar, a listing service that attaches a 30-day quality block of unique payers and total calls to each endpoint, an independent index published its October 9 snapshot of top endpoints by unique payers, Tanod reported.

House read

the week's numbers describe transactions no person initiated, running on the rails beneath the visible economy: millions of x402 payments on one ledger in 30 days, batch settlement bundling the small ones out of view, catalogs that only agents read. This is the condition Davenport named in The Agent Payments Protocol: Part 2, The Ghost Economy, 2025-10-20, a market of agent-to-agent settlement that exists and transacts faster than it can be fully seen. The telemetry this week is the ghost economy reporting its own size.

The payment-protocol specs moved too. The x402 reference repository changed its head commit on October 10, and the Universal Commerce Protocol repository, Google's open standard for agent-initiated checkout co-developed with Shopify, changed on October 9. The Agentic Commerce Protocol spec and site, Visa's Trusted Agent Protocol spec, and Google's Agent Payments Protocol spec all held unchanged this week.

Away from the open rails, the card and enterprise side kept building. Crossmint launched its Agent Commerce Toolkit, a single integration that handles card storage, Visa and Mastercard agent credentials, and merchant checkout, PR Newswire carried. Circle said it will bring USDC and EURC into SAP customer workflows through Tereina, describing the SAP ecosystem as handling 84% of global commerce, TradingView carried from Cointelegraph. Mastercard said it is adding identity, fraud and behavioral insights to its Agent Pay platform, including an issuer probability score for judging whether a legitimate agent is on a site, per its own account.
